Hello friends,
After more than a year of retreat into editing my book on Pleasure, I’m poking my nose out to look around and hunt some nourishment. Things are messy out here.
While I’ve been holed up, people following my newsletter have almost doubled. I’ve been imagining having many Substack friends.
In my 30 years as a trauma therapist, I would ask the multiverse: “Please send me the people who can best use what I have to offer and will draw from me what I most need to learn.” The multiverse responded by sending wonderful, creative people, and often, I wondered who was getting more from the deal, me or the client.
Now that I’ve traded my therapist hat for free ranger boots, I’m asking the same question with tweaks: “Please send me readers who can best use what I have to offer, who will explore and play in the process, so as to share joyful, diverse, robust and potent creative vision with our human collective.
So what will that look like? Who knows, but right now, I’m preliving it. I know how it feels. It feels great! My heart is light and glowing, soft pulsing in arms and hands, legs and feet, my shoulders are soft, elbows heavy, and small tremors scamper up my spine; my face feels warm and bright. I’m smiling.
You are my friends; best friends, in the cosmic sense. We’re here together, now, to share this life thing in the midst of this mess. We showed up for this mess right now because we’re so UP FOR IT, for THIS, exactly this. Right now, March winds are HOWLING outside across the half-melted snow, trees are whipping around in the bright cold sun. We’re resonating with that energy of Spring: rising, rambunctious, fresh and strong.
I’m so glad the last piece I published in this newsletter is about Feldenkrais and the Potency of Ease, because some of us, maybe you and me, are going to engage in this messy time by following the path of ease. Like water seeking its own level, like a tree rooted on the side of a mountain, like the wind outside, the path of ease has spontaneity, duration, creativity, and the power to transform.
Let’s do some collaborative dreaming, day or night, in the spirit of free associating. What you’re focusing on is what is growing in your life; what do you see for yourself and for our collective, however that looks to you? On some level we’re already in contact, let me know what comes to mind, in the comments or otherwise.
Okay! Here goes…
…my dreams are big easeful collaborative endeavors…the kind with ten minute credit sequences and conclusions that leave the real world seeking more of them…my reality is one step and one word and one moment at a time…the little stuff maybe more real than the big ideas…great to see your words out here…
