“Play is practice for what is significant.”

“Spontaneity gets you everywhere.”

These and the rest are gems, Alden. What a wonderful book.

Also, your training sounds absolutely fascinating.

Alden, it's interesting to me that this final book seems to be the most whimsical and light of the series, but contained within it I find the most profound gems of your cat work. The pairings of pictures and one-line feline truths seem to be the essence of the catmmunications made so far. Especially, "When you want to get anything done, rest." and "Play is practice for what is significant." Thank you for sharing this whole series. And by the way, your explanation of how you've used the books as an on-ramp to consistent publishing is by itself a very helpful demonstration and communication. It's something I'm going to keep in mind as I aim to support future writers to find their stride.

Thanks, Rick! Catmmunications they are, from these beloved friends on my journey. Reviewing my history through them, I've been reclaiming some dimensions of private experience in my writing, which is a bit disorienting, but fun. Now I get to do some wobbling while I find my center of gravity in motion; I could tip in so many directions!

Alden, only YOU could have written this series. So whimsical and wise at the same time. “Play is practice for what is significant.” Whoa, what a perspective.

Still smiling.

Tremendous words, Alden. Tremendous thoughts. Tremendous wisdom.

"Roscoe Lee" manages to share so many deep, poignant nuggets about Life, in so few words. I really enjoyed the entire series, but Roscoe's "Dark Tabby Wisdom" is definitely my fave.

You shared that this book came not long after your father's passing, and I imagine Roscoe was channeling some of your thoughts as you were processing such a significant loss, yes? In any event, this is really remarkable work. Well done!

Thank you, Larry. It was a pleasure to revisit that time through the story; sixteen years ago! I see so much light on those pages.

…what led you to cats?…

A cat led me to cats, and they've been leading me around ever since. We got our first cat in Germany when I was around 2. Truth be told: she smelled so good. I figured out how to touch her so that I could snuggle up with my face in her fur. A year or so later, she gave birth to her kittens in my hair while I was asleep. I helped her raise them.
